2017 Brocathlon 2017 meant the Brocathlon was back and better than ever. The High Council spent late summer nights planning the day with great detail. Mother Nature attempted to put a wrench in the plans, but the show must always go on. While competition for Brocathlon champion was nowhere to be found, the race for 2nd place was intense. All in all the day featured rain, Jason breaking a plate at the Winkler’s, Bryce taking a batted ball off the chest, and Paul failing to win any events once again, but ended with Jason Nagy being crowned 2nd Annual Brocathlon Champion. Here is how it happened. THE FACTS Jason Nagy absolutely OBLITERATED the competition en route to winning the Brocathalon by 12 points, with a record-setting 68 points scored. Jonny Todd and Bryce Winkler took 2nd and 3rd place for the second straight year, losing by 12 and 15 points respectively. The Ultimate Loser for the 2nd year in a row was Jake Murphy. Surprisingly, Murphy had the second most event victories with 2 but is god awful at pretty much every other event. Staying with the Jake Murphy story, he was heavily favored to win the Beer Mile and came up as a DNF because of puking. Jason Nagy had the most event wins with 3. Jonny Todd repeated as home run champion, following up his 9 2016 home runs with 6 in 2017. Jake Murphy disgustingly ate an entire sleeve of Oreos in a winning time of 51.37 seconds. Murphy also dominated the Semper Fi Don’t Die Push-Up contest, setting the pace the whole way. Through 2 years and 20 events, 2016 Champ Paul Murray has YET to win a Brocathlon event. Alex Nupp repeated as Disc Golf champion, adapting from the Arboretum course to the Schneider course with ease. Bryce Winkler embarrassingly took 2:44 to finish the Oreo eating contest. Gage Feola DNS the Beer Mile because he “doesn’t drink beer”. He followed that up with a victory in the BEER Pong tourney without taking a sip of beer.
